In 2008, "the Development Culture Health and Social Service Foundation", which attempted to establish a Vocational School named "Istanbul Gelişim Vocational School", started its education life with the Vocational School established by the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Ministers on 14 June 2008.

With the law numbered 6114 dated 17 February 2011, Istanbul Gelişim University was established in the 2018-2019 academic year with the step taken to become a “world university” with 3 Faculties, 3 Institutes, 4 Colleges, and 2 Vocational Schools. with disposable solid steps with the goal of becoming a university that has a say in the world growing every year Development Istanbul University, it is one of Turkey's most preferred first three universities.

With its accreditation breakthrough in the 2017-2018 academic year, 40 Departments and 53 Programs, Istanbul Development, accredited by AQAS (Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programs - Accreditation Quality Assurance Agency of Academic Programs), one of Germany's leading accreditation institutions. University, with the most accredited program in Turkey has the title of being the only higher education institution.

School of Physical Education and Sport in Turkey with the only accredited college Iguana from the European School of Health Science 13 program has been accredited unconditionally from AHPGS'. İGÜ continues its successful steps towards becoming a university of firsts in Turkish higher education with the accreditation of the School of Foreign Languages ​​by Pearson.
