Istanbul 29 Mayıs University

Our university, where people from different beliefs and cultures have been living together for centuries and which was established in Istanbul, the meeting point of civilizations, aims to contribute to the scientific accumulation of humanity with original research and to train competent researchers and scientists to achieve this.

In the academic year of 2010-2011, Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Faculty of Literature started education activities by taking students to Philosophy, History, and Turkish Language and Literature programs; “Compulsory English Preparatory Class” has been opened for students who have been placed in the same departments since 2012-2013 academic year. In the 2014-2015 academic year, Psychology, English Translation and Interpretation, and Arabic Translation and Interpretation programs were opened and as of the same year, the language of the undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Letters was partially (at least 30%) English.

Our University Faculty of International Islamic and Religious Sciences started its education activities by taking students to the "Islamic and Religious Studies Program", the language of instruction (at least 30%) in Arabic in the 2011-2012 academic year. In the 2012-2013 academic year, students are admitted to the "International Theology Program" and "Compulsory Arabic Preparatory Class" is applied for the students placed in these programs. In addition, our faculty students who have successfully completed the “Compulsory Arabic Preparatory Class” of our faculty since 2011-2012 academic year are sent to leading universities in Jordan within a three-month program in order to take various courses as a guest student and to improve their Arabic. It is aimed to continue this practice by developing and enriching it.

Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences started education activities by taking students to the "Political Science and International Relations Program" whose language of instruction is English in the 2013-2014 academic year, and a "Compulsory English Preparatory Class" has been established for the students who are placed in this program. In the 2014-2015 academic year, Economics (English) and Social Work (Turkish) programs were opened and the first students were accepted.
