Gebze Technical University

Gebze Technical University briefly GTI, was established with the name of "Gebze High Technology Institute" on July 3, 1992, was one of two institutes of technology in Turkey. On 22 October 2014, it was decided to restructure as Gebze Technical University with the law proposal adopted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The university consists of the Çayırova campus. Today, the university consists of Çayırova Campus, which has a total outdoor area of ​​1,370,070 m2 and a total indoor area of ​​26,612 m2. (Muallim village campus, previously under the Gebze Technical University, has been allocated to the Informatics Valley.)

Gebze Technical University started its graduate education in 1994-1995 academic year with 80 students in Electronic Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, and Business Administration graduate programs within the Institute of Science. Computer Engineering, Physics, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning in 1995-1996 academic year, Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering, Energy Systems in 1996-1997 academic year, Mathematics in 1997-1998 academic year and 1999-2000 academic year Earthquake and Building Information graduate programs have been opened. In the academic year 2001-2002, the Institute of Social Sciences was established, and in the following years, interdisciplinary thesis and non-thesis master's programs were opened for doctoral programs and industrial needs of current graduate programs. In 2014, with the name of the university, seven new institutes were established, and Nanotechnology and Biotechnology from these institutes started postgraduate education.

Gebze Technical University started its undergraduate education in the Faculty of Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electronics Engineering departments in the 2001-2002 academic year. In the academic year of 2002-2003, in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering and in the Faculty of Science, Mathematics and Physics, in the 2008-2009 academic year, in the Faculty of Business Administration and in the Faculty of Architecture, in the Faculty of Architecture, in the academic year 2010-2011, the Faculty of Science Molecular Biology In the 2016-2017 academic year, in the Department of Environmental Engineering, and in the 2017-2018 academic year, undergraduate education in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Map Engineering, City Regional Planning, and Economics.

Gebze Technical University, the year it was founded to provide better quality education since and has continued its efforts to research, 2017-2018 academic year and said the President at the opening was considered to be one of Turkey's 10 research universities, has gained a new status.

Gebze Technical University continues its education in 18 undergraduate departments of 4 faculties and 50 graduate theses / non-thesis graduate and doctorate programs of 9 institutes. As of 2018, Gebze Technical University provides education to a total of 8312 students, with more than 55% at the graduate level, with 3713 undergraduate and 4599 graduate students.
