Dicle University

Dicle University is a public university located in Diyarbakır. Diyarbakır School of Medicine, which was opened to education in Ankara University School of Medicine in 1966, formed the basis of today's Dicle University.

Dicle University was founded on the 27 thousand-decare lands in the east of the historical city of Diyarbakır, and its name is taken from the Tigris River, which separates the university from the city. Apart from Diyarbakır, where the central campus is located, there are also Schools in Ergani, Çermik, Çüngüş, Bismil and Silvan districts of Diyarbakir.

Today, Dicle University has 40,000 students and approximately 5500 academic and administrative staff. Apart from the teaching services it offers, the University is also the health center of the region with its 1200-bed Research Hospital. Thanks to the high level of health service provided at the University Research Hospital, our citizens in the region have been freed from the material and moral burden of going to big centers, except for very important problems.

Dicle University is one of the most important institutions of our state in the region, which trains professionals in almost every field needed in the region, conducts research at the national and international level and produces projects for the economy of the region. In order to increase the standard of living in the region by obtaining the highest level of efficiency from GAP, priority is given to projects that will contribute to the economy of the region, especially agriculture and animal husbandry.

While the culture-art activities of the student clubs and the sportive achievements of the university teams bring movement to the city life, on the one hand, these activities play an important role in the transition to a “modern society” by encouraging young people to the university.
